Jake Bailey - Mindset, Moral Strength and Micro Ambitions

Season #1 Episode #12

Jake Bailey is an internet-breaking orator, cancer survivor, author, journalist, keynote speaker and founder of getsortd.com, an online resilience training and development program for school students.

In November 2015 Jake presented his end of year senior monitor speech at Christchurch Boys' High and made worldwide headlines. A week before he was due to deliver this speech, Jake fell ill and was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, the fastest growing cancer known to man. Jake was given 2 weeks to live if left untreated. He persevered to make his speech and the video went on to touch the hearts of millions of people around the world.

Since being announced in remission in January 2016, Jake has gone on to share his experiences, his story, and the things he has learnt that have given him clarity throughout his journey, in the hopes of helping others facing difficulties. He is the author of the best-selling book What Cancer Taught Me and subject of the documentary ‘The Common Touch’. He is also an official ambassador for Maia Health Foundation in New Zealand, and Tour de Cure in Australia, and is incredibly passionate about these organisations and the differences they make.

As well as presenting at schools, Jake is called upon by organisations across the world to assist with staff well-being and resilience programs. He has worked with clients ranging from NZ Rugby and the United States Department of Agriculture to Corrective Services New South Wales, and Fortune 500 companies.
